This past Fall I had the pleasure of attending Jerry Ghionis’s 5 day workshop in Boston for the second time. When I took Jerry’s workshop the first time, I was very new in the Wedding Photography business and while I couldn’t grasp the technical aspects of his teachings, I was fueled with so much inspiration, not only about photography but about the value of our lives. Worth its price of admission 100x over again was the promise to fiercely protect my relationship with my husband while climbing the ladder of the industry. Without this workshop, I would not have had the “aha moment” that reconfigured my world to place what was most important to me at the center. Years later, I saw that Jerry was coming to Boston and I knew the time was right to dive in again, this time with technical skill and the ability to grab so much more than I could the first go-round. I had had the absolutely most challenging and heartbreaking year in my personal life and Jerry’s workshop gave me the permission to enter into a creative arena again and get re-inspired and re-energized. I met some amazing people and got to know some Boston photographers who had only been distant Facebook connections before. After the workshop, I needed to shoot and I got together with fellow workshoppers Megan Jane Moore and Nicole Chan for some night shooting using Jerry’s incredible Icelights. Talented Boston University actresses Paige, Lizzy and Selima were our stunning models and I was thrilled with the images I took away with. The Icelight creates the most beautiful quality I have ever seen in a handheld lighting instrument and I can’t wait to use it more this 2014 season!
